A Baby Cradle can be a Treasure
Many parents enjoy having a baby cradle or bassinette for their new born baby. It gives them the ability to keep their infant nearby during the daytime or the nighttime. Nursing moms often choose to place a baby cradle next to their bed so that they do not have to get up during the night to feed the baby. They can simply lift the infant from the baby cradle, feed them and then put them back in the cradle.

Using a cradle in the first months of your baby's life offers parents a lot more flexibility, particularly if your house is large, or your bedroom is far away from the baby nursery. The baby will grow to be big enough to stay in their own room in no time, but during the early months it can be very helpful to have him or her nearby.

Quality made cradles have been passed down from generation to generation and used by multiple parents for their newborns. Since they are only used a short period of time, they don't receive much wear and tear and stay in excellent condition if stored properly between uses.
A rocking baby cradle is also a very nice thing to have when keeping your infant next to your bed. It allows you to reach out and rock your baby back to sleep without even getting up from bed. Or place a rocking cradle next to an easy chair and rock the baby as you read or watch TV. Some types of cradles may require special woodworking equipment, but most plans will tell you what tools and materials you will need. A homemade cradle is one that you will enjoy using for all your newborn babies and even passing it along to them when they are big enough to have their own.
